Huey Tum Ajnabi is a Pakistani historical romance drama film directed by Kamran Shahid (in his directorial debut), who produced it and wrote the script also.[2][3] The film stars Mikaal Zulfiqar, Ayesha Omar and Sadia Khan, with Sohail Ahmed, Samina Peerzada, Alyy Khan and Mehmood Aslam in the supporting cast. The film was released theatrically on 22 April 2023, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.[4][5]

Premise

As love falls, the walls of hatred fall too. This is the story of Nizam and Zeenat who met in the corridors of history at a strange time.Set against the Civil War of 1970’s this romantic musical saga takes place between the warriors and radical nationalists. Nizam and Zeenat had to choose between their respective homelands and love of their lives. The story is not only about this choice but also the struggle that both had to put to convince their own souls what exactly they wanted from life. With the portrayal of the real characters of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Indira Gandhi. Huey Tum Ajnabi unfolds before our eyes, seeking to delve deep into the vivid hues and intricate patterns of the Indo-Pak War of 1971.[6][7]

Development and casting

The development on the film began in late 2016, with the working title of The Trial. It reported that the film which is set against the backdrop of Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 will have Sadia Khan and Mikaal Zulfiqar as leads. It marked the second on-screen appearance of Khan and Zulfiqar after 2014 TV series Laa. Resham, Aly Khan and Shamoon Abbasi were revealed to be the supporting cast.[8][9][10]

Release

Initially planned to release theatrically in March 2017, it was postponed due to the extended schedules of the shooting. It was again decided to release in 2020, which delayed due to Covid-19 Pandemic. The first look of the film was released on 11 February 2023 and it eventually released on 22 April 2023, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.[11][12][13]
